Water Purifier: Types and Benefit

Water purifier is an apparatus or device used to clean water by removing impurities, contaminants, and harmful substances so that it is safe for use and consumption, it can be used to filter out contaminants such as chemicals, bacteria and suspended solid. It traps particles, bacteria and making water safe to drink.

1. Reverse Osmosis (RO) Purifiers: -

  • Best for use in places with hard water.

2. Ultraviolet (UV) Purifiers: -

3. Ultrafiltration (UF) Purifiers: -
  • Utilizes a membrane to sieve bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms.
  • Functions without electricity.
4. Activated Carbon Purifiers: -
  • Uses carbon filters to eliminate chlorine, pesticides, and taste.
  • Does not eliminate dissolved solids or microbes.
5. Gravity-Based Water Purifiers: -
  • Utilizes activated carbon and UF for filtering water without electricity.
  • Only apt for use where low TDS water is found.
  • Low-cost and low maintenance. 
6. Sediment Filters: -
  • Removes particulate matter such as sand, dirt, and rust.
  • Tends to be used as a pre-filter in other purification systems.
7. Electrolysis-Based Purifiers (E-Boiling): -
  • Uses electric charges to destroy germs and bacteria.
  • Typically used in conjunction with other filtration techniques.

10. Pump & Solenoid Valve (In Electric Purifiers: -
  • Pump raises water pressure for the RO membrane.
  • Solenoid valve regulates water flow.
11. Auto Shut-Off System: -
  • Shuts off water purification when the tank is full.
